The airport is located 17km (12 miles) southeast of Guadalajara

Driving Directions
To reach the airport from Guadalajara, take Hwy-23 in the direction of Chapala; the highway leads directly to the airport, which is signposted. The airport is 15km (10 miles) from Chapala.

There is one car park situated outside the terminal building.

Aries, Budget, Dollar, Econorent, Hertz, National, Ohana and Optima are all represented at the airport.

Public Transport
Road: Taxi: Authorised taxis are available. Bus: The airport minibus (Servicio Colectivo) meets all flights outside the terminal building and takes passengers to the city center every hour (journey time: 35 minutes). Tickets are available for purchase at the booth outside Arrivals.

Information and Help Desks
A telephone information service (tel: (0)33 3688 5120) is available. For airport information once at the terminal building, passengers should go to the help desk of the airline with which they are flying. There is a tourist information desk, which offers a hotel booking service.

Getting to Tlaquepaque

Top

Fortunately enough, Tlaquepaque is located between Guadalajara and the airport (and the airport is 17 kilometers from downtown Gdl). It is relatively easy to get from the airport;

Taxi - As you exit the International arrivals area, after going through customs, you walk through some automatic doors. If you look directly in front of you, there are two booths marked ‘TAXI’. Both booths charge the same price for a taxi. Prices are set and you pay at the booth, in Mexican pesos, and then step outside to collect the taxi. This system is simple for tourists, has reduced any problems with drivers overcharging and eliminated the hassles associated with having to take a taxi at the airport. Currently, the average price of a taxi from the airport the downtown Tlaquepaque is around 180 pesos.

Bus - For the budget conscious, and more adventurous, there are numerous buses that take travelers from the airport to ‘el Alamo’ a place just on the outskirts of Tlaquepaque. The price is roughly 20 pesos. It is a safe and reliable means of transport, but please ask us for more detailed information about bus services.
